340 TUESDAY FEBRUARY 8, 1955 (a) The license tax to be paid by the O1'mer of any motor vehicle used in the tramportation of pas sengers not for compemation shall be s Dc dollars ($6.00) per year; the fee for motorcycles shall be three dollars ($3.00) per year, and two dollars ($2.00) additional for each side car. (b) The license tax to be paid on each motor vehicle, trailer, or s emi- trailer kept or used for rent or hire for transportation of passengers or property shall be twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per year. (c) The license t&"'C to be paid on each motor vehicle, trailer, or semi- trailer used or designed for the transportation of property shall be twelve dollars ($12.00) per year. One-half of the annual tax prescribed by subsectiom (a), (b), and (c) above shall be collected whenever any license plates are issued during the period beginning on the 1st day of October in any year and ending on the 15th day of January in the sane license year, and one-third of such tax shall be collected whenever any license plate is issued after the 15th day of January in any license year. This ordinance shall not apply to residents of another city or tOl.'m in the State of Virginia ..1ho have paid a similar license tax to the city or town in which they are a resident. The license tax hereby levied shall be due and payable to the office of the City Treasurer on and after the effective date of this ordinance and the Treasurer shall supply each licensee lNi th a plate which shall indicate the number of the license and 'which shall be attached to the vehicle for vnlich the tax was levied and collected. Said license plate shall be placed on the vehicle so that the plate shall be in full view at all times. Any owner of a motor vehicle, trailer, or semi-trailer, for which a license tax is required under this ordinance who has not paid the liceme tax on or before April 15, 1955, or who has operated a motor vehicle, trailer, or semi-trailer on the streets and highways of the City of MartinsviLle for a period of thirty DO) days without having paid the license tax herein levied shall be subjeet to a fine of not less than one dollar ($1.00) nor more than twenty-five dollars ('25.00), which shall not relieve sueh owner of the duty to pay the license tax. Any ordinance of the City of Martinsville heretofore passed which is in conflict wi th this ordinance is hereby repealed. A proposed contract, setting for th regulations and conditions upon which certain concessions would be operated at the new water impounding reservoir site by the contracting concessionaire, was presented by City Manager :Mathewson and reviewed by Council, Council approving same as a basis for adventising for bid proposals.
