Whitener <br /> <br />In accordance with a request from Lanier Farm, Inc., Council granted permission to <br /> <br />said Lanier Farm, Inc. to extend a water line on Valley View ,Street (outside City's <br /> <br />corporate limits) for a distance of 100 feet. It was pointed out that Lanier Farm, <br /> <br />Inc. had already been granted permission to cons trllct such a water line for the <br /> <br />entire length of said Valley View Street some years ago and to connect said water <br /> <br />line to the City's system but that the contractor building this line inadvertently <br /> <br />failed to construct the line for the distance for wD.ich permission has already been <br /> <br />granted. <br /> <br />Representatives of the local tobacco warehouse operators, the MartiYlSville Junior <br /> <br />Chamber of Commerce, the local Retail Merchants Associatj.on, the First National <br /> <br />Bank, and the Piedmont Trust Bank appeared before Council and presented their plans <br /> <br />for a II Tobac co Festival Week" which they proposed to sponser and conduct during the <br /> <br />weeK immediately preceding the opening of the forthco~ing tobacco market season here <br /> <br />in Martinsville--the purpose of this "Tobacco Festival Weekfl being to stimulate <br /> <br />tobacco farmers' interest in J\1artinsville and to encourage their selling of their <br /> <br />
