2~

ITESDAY

JUNE 221 1954

The Planning Commission, at a regular meeting on June 17, 1954,
considered the approval of a subdivision referred to them by City
Council. After due consideration of this request for approval,
the PlEl1lning Commission voted unanimously to recommend to COU!lcil
that this subdivision be approved.

The Planning Commission, in recommending the approval of this
subdivision, noted the fact that the street as shown on the sub-
division map has only a 40-foot right-of-way and therefore does not
comply with the City Code inasnmch as our ordinance requires that
every street have a minimum right-of-way of 50 feet. However, the
Planning Commission took cognizance of the fact that the present
street has only a 20-foot right-of-way and that the property owner
in question is adding an additional 20 feet to the right-of-way
of the existing street.

The Planning Corrilldssion also recognized that certain of the lots
along this street were sold and occupied prior to the time that
this arec. was annexed in 1946 and that it is next to impossible to
obtain any additional right-of-way because of the proximity of
the houses now occupying these lots.

The Planning Commission respectfully submits the above recommendation
for your further consideration.

~~
i~
i

The Planning Commission also submitted the following report and recommendation,

which was accepted by Council, providing for the dedication of a 30-foot

right-of-way extension of Wingfield street to Roy Street, as petitioned for

by Sale Knitting Company, Inc. on June 8, 1954:

The Planning Commission, at a regular meeting on June 17, 1954, considered
a petition from the Sale Knitting Company referred to it by City Council.
This petition requested the acceptance of a dedication by Sale Knitting
Company of a 30-foot right-of-way for the extension of Wingfield Street
to Roy street. It is the understanding of the Planning Commission that the
dedication is prediceted on the opening, paving and draining by the City,
of the street.

The Planning Commission, after due consideration, voted unanimously to
recommend to the City Council that this street dedication be accepted
under the above conditions.

The Planning Commission a.lso recommends that the triangular portion of
land deeded to the City under a previous agreement be returned to the
Sale Knitting Company.

The Planning Commission, in making the above recommendation took into
consideration the following:

1. That this street is badly needed to obviate a hazardous
traffic condition at the intersection of Park and Wingfield
Street. The existing condition necessitates all vehicles
