<br />~30 <br /> <br />TUES DAY <br /> <br />MAY 11, 1954 <br /> <br />the extending of water mains outside the City's corporate limits but also would <br /> <br />stipulate conditions governing the development of subdivisions also outside the <br /> <br />corporate limits where such subdivisions might require City services. <br /> <br />In learning that the Garden Study Club of Martinsville has recently had installed <br /> <br />at its own expense a set of steps at the Oakdale Street entrance to City Park, <br /> <br />Council went on record as expressing its sincere appreciation to the Garden Study <br /> <br />Club for this most worthwhile contribution, instructine the Clerk to so convey by <br /> <br />letter this expression of appreciation and recognition. <br /> <br />Following its usual procedure on such matters, Council referred to the Planning <br /> <br />Commission a request from 1~. P. R. Graham that the rear portion of Lot No. 2 on <br /> <br /> <br />Route 108 (Figsboro Road), adjoining the property of the Church of God of Prophecy, <br /> <br /> <br />be rezoned from "Residential" to "Business" to permit :Mr. Graham to conduct an <br /> <br /> <br />upholstery-repair shop on said property. <br /> <br />Council went on record, in its final action of the meeting, as expressing its <br /> <br /> <br />deepest sympathy and condolences to the widow and immediate faJl1ily of Dr. L. B. <br /> <br /> <br />Hudson, City Health Officer, vmo passed away unexpectedly on May 9, 1954. <br /> <br /> <br />Council also went on record as acknowledging with appreciation the fine work done <br /> <br />by Dr. Hudson while here in Martinsville as City Health Officer and instructed the <br /> <br /> <br />Clerk to relay by letter these expressions to Mr's.
