The economic significance of this new street can- <br /> <br />not be underestimated. <br /> <br />Business growth on the Southside is apparent. The City has <br /> <br />cooperated with the Bank and other business developments on <br /> <br />the southside in every way possible. The recommended budget <br /> <br />for next year includes funds for a good start on a Starling Avenue- <br /> <br />Bridge Street business "white waytl lighting system. <br /> <br />The life or death of business and industry and the jobs they create <br /> <br />is directly dependent on an adequate water and electric supply. <br /> <br />The City has recently built one, and is completing its second, <br /> <br />electric substation. Enlarged distribution lines have been built <br /> <br />throughout the City and arrangements have been made with <br /> <br />Appalachian Electric power Company for separate and independent <br /> <br />sources of supply SO that industry and business can produce and <br /> <br />expand with full confidence. It is a good feeling for everyone to <br /> <br />know that we have a modern and adequate electric system. <br /> <br />No development has been charted more carefully or more fully <br /> <br />planned for the economic development of our community than haS <br /> <br />that of our water systeni.
