Exception: Ashes shall be stored in smaller metal containers, the <br />capacity of which should not exceed twenty (20) gallons. However, garbage <br />or rubbish shall not be stored in ash containers. <br /> <br />D. Refuse shall include the following: <br /> <br />1. Garba&e: PutrescXible animal and vegetable wastes resulting <br />from handling, preparation, and consumption of foods. <br /> <br />/'- <br /> <br />2. Rubbish: Non-putresc~ibles solid wastes consisting of paper, <br />cardBoard, wood, tin cans, glass, yard clippings, bedding, <br />crockery, metals, trash, sweepings, litter, and all other <br />similar substances that become nuisances. <br /> <br />3. Ashes: The residue from the burning of wood, coal, coke, or <br />other combustible materials. <br /> <br />~. <br />~~ <br />v> <br /> <br />= <br /> <br />E. All refuse shall be collected at frequent intervals and it shall be <br />the duty of overy ovmer, lessee, agent, or occupant of any premise within <br />the City of Martinsville to place or cause to be placed refuse containers so <br />as to be readily accessible to collection crews at ground level and not <br />inside houses, porches, or garages. Bulky rubbish such as cardboard or <br />wooden boxes shall be flattened and, together I'd th newspapers, magazines, <br />and other large quantities of dry paper or similar material, tied in bundles <br />with stout cord. Such bnndles or bales shall not exceed thirty-six (36) <br />inches in length or breadth; twenty (20) inches in height; and fifty (50) <br />pounds in weight. <br /> <br />An emergency existing, this ordinance shall be in force from date of passage. <br /> <br />Council also authorized City Manager Mathewson to purchase a sufficient number of <br /> <br />Can-guards, at the Cityts expense, to provide one such Can-guards for each garbage <br /> <br />or refuse can used by th8 residents of Martinsville, such Can-guards being required <br /> <br />nnder the terms of the aforementioned ordinance. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, the following ordinance <br /> <br />amending the Cityts Amusement Admission Tax Ordinance was placed on first readirg: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Conncil of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br />regular meeting assembled this day of , 1954, <br />that it doth hereby and herein amend Section 2 (TAX) of the Amusement Tax <br />Ordinance of said City of Martinsville to read as follows: <br /> <br />---- T <br />
