<br />:12 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MARCH 23, 1954 <br /> <br />A petition, as follows, from JAr. George L. Nease and others, requesting the <br /> <br />rezoning of certain property between U.S. Route 220 North and the Albert Harris <br /> <br />School, was referred to the Planning Commission for its consideration and <br /> <br />reconunendation. <br /> <br />I wish to make a request to you and the City Zoning board to have the <br />property owned by Nease, Wheeler, and Blackard, Inc. re-zoned for <br />business. This is the tract lying between U.S. Route 220 North and the <br />Albert Harris School. The front of this pt'operty is now zoned for <br />business and we have a Gulf Service Station and a Dairy Queen business <br />there. <br /> <br />Also referred to the Planning Connnission for its consideration and recommendation <br /> <br />was the following petition received from Messrs. R. H. Oakley and J. Carroll <br /> <br />Eanes requesting the rezoning from IIA-2 Residential" to "B-1 Business" of their <br /> <br />property on the West side of State Highway Route 108 at or near Irunan Street: <br /> <br />PETITION RE: REZONING OF A-2 RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY TO B-1 BUSINESS PROPERTY <br /> <br />TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF MA.RTINSVILLE, VIRGINIA <br /> <br />YOUR PETITIONERS, R. H. Oakley and J. Carroll Eanes, of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, represent that a map of the R. H. Oakley, J. C. Eanes and Charlie <br />Finney property; said property lying on the West side of State Highway <br />Number 108, in the City of Martinsville, Virginia; is of record in Map <br />Book No. 3 at Page 83 in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of the <br />City of Martinsville, Virginia. The said property pr'oposed to be rezoned <br />is described as follows: <br /> <br />BEGINNING at a point on the west margin of State Highway No. 108 <br />thence along said highway North 3 degrees 33 minutes West 388.50 feet to <br />a point corner with Inman Street; thence along the south side of Inman <br />Street South 81 degrees 43 minutes West 125.40 feet to a point; thence <br />running off from Inman Street South 3 degrees 33 minutes East 353.3 feet <br />to a point; thence South 45 degrees 50 minutes East 68 feet to a point; <br />thence North 68 degrees 26 minutes East 84 feet to the point of beginning. <br />Said pr'operty to have a consistent depth of approximately 125 feet, with <br />all fronting on State Highway No. 108. <br /> <br />Your petitioners desire to have the property hereinabove described as <br />shovm on said map, rezoned from A-2 Residential property to B-1 Business <br />Property for the reasons hereto set forth. <br />
