<br />20 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 23, 1954 <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council approved for City <br /> <br />Manager Mathewson's signature a perpetual easement agreement with Mr. Hal C. Rich <br /> <br />on the following described property: <br /> <br />BEING that triangular shaped piece of property on the Wes t side of the <br />thoroughfare street, being a portion of Douglas Street, said property being <br />owned by too City of Martinsville, Virginia, and further this piece of pro- <br />perty is located directly in front of the property o"V'med by Hal C. Rich <br />between approximate station 328+00 and 328+35 as shawn on plans of the new <br />thoroughfare _ Project 1844-06 - Sheet No. 11, which plans are of record in <br />the Ci.ty Engineer's Office of the Ci.ty of Martinsville, Virginia. <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />Council also approved for Mayor Hodnett's signature two easement agreements with <br /> <br />the Carolina and Nortlnqestern Railway Company by means of the following resolutions: <br /> <br />~Z'" <br />I~~ <br />i <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Martirnville to construct and <br />maintain a line of power wires acrOWYf the right-of-way or property of the <br />CaroEna & Northwestern Railway Company at a point on said right-of-way or <br />property 206.6 feet east of the Carolina & Northwestern Railway Company's <br />Ndlepost 41 at or near Martinsvi lle, Vir ginia, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, an agreement between the Carolina & Northrf8stern Railway Company <br />and the City of Martinsville, dated February 23, 1954 and setting forth the <br />condi tions upon .which the City of Martinsville may construct and maintain <br />said line of power wires, has been presented to the Council of the City of <br />Martinsville, Virginia; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular <br />meeting assembled ~lis twenty-third day of February, 1954, that it. doth herein <br />approve said agreement and doth authorize its Mayor, Rieves S. Hodnett, to <br />execute said agreement on behalf of the City of 1ku~tinsville; and <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />BE IT FURTBER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the <br />Carolina & Northwestern Railway Company. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Martinsville to construct and <br />maintain a guy ydre, pole and anchor upon the westerly side of the right-of-way <br />or property of the Carolina & Northwestern Railway Company at a point on said <br />right-of-way or property 2,320 feet west of the Carolina & Northwestern Railway <br />Company's Milepost 41 at or near Martinsville, Virginia, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, an agreement between the Carolina & Northwes tern Railway Company and <br />the City of Martinsville, dated February 23, 1954 and setting forth the <br />conditions upon which the City of Martinsville may construct and maintain <br />said guy wire, pole and anchor, has been presented to the Council of the City <br />of Martinsvi1le; now, therefore, <br />
