<br />190 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JAlJUARY l2. 1954 <br /> <br />In carrying out the terms of an agreement with Hr. G. N. DeShazo, dated <br />July 26, 19/+9, Council authorized City Na.'1ager Hathewson to execute <br /> <br />(exchange) deed whereby the City would acquire, in accordance with the terms <br /> <br />of said agreement, from Mr. DeShazo property for the City's Central Sub- <br /> <br />station as described in said agreement and deed. <br /> <br />No action was taken on Hr. G. T. Lester's suggestion presented to the Council <br /> <br />December 22, 1953 with reference to the closing of Lester Airport, __ this <br /> <br />matter being continued for further study. <br /> <br />Ci ty Hanager Mathewson, next, announced the appointment of Hr. Thomas H. <br /> <br />Moses as Assistant Inspector in the Department of Inspections, filling the <br /> <br />vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. James B. Jones, Jr., effective <br /> <br />January 1, 1954. <br /> <br />In view of the proposed legislation recommended by the League of Virginia <br /> <br />Municipalities to the 1954 Virginia General Assembly concerning the inoculati.on <br /> <br />of dogs in cities against rabies, Council took no action on the Henry C01Jnty <br /> <br />Board of Supervisors' request of January 5, 1954 that the City adopt a <br /> <br />compulsory rabies vaccination ordinance similar to that already adopted <br /> <br />by said Board. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />n, Clerk of Council <br />
