Not less than one <br />member nor more than three members of the Commission shall~be administrative <br />officials of the City of Martinsville Whose terms of office as members of the <br />Commission shall correspond to their respective official tenures unless otherwise <br />terminated. The majority of the members, however, shall be qualified voters of <br />the City of Martinsville who shall hold no other municipal office except that <br />one (1) of such majority may also be a member of the Ci tyt s Board of Zoning Appeals, <br />in which event his term of office as a member of the Planning Commission shall <br />expire with his term of office as a member of said Board of Zoning Appeals unless <br />otherwise replaced in the manner hereinafter provided. <br /> <br />The terms of office of such other members 6f the Commission, that is, those members <br />who are not municipal office-holders, shall be for four years or until their <br />successors shall have been appointed and shall have qualified, but in no case shall <br />such members serve longer than six years unless reappointed for regular four-year <br />terms. <br /> <br />Vacancies caused by the resignation, death, or removal from office of any members <br />who are not municipal office-holders shall be filled for the unexpired terms of <br />such members. Inefficiency, negleet of duty, or malfeasance in office shall be <br />deemed sufficient cause or causes for removal from office of any members who are <br />not municipal office-holders, but such removal shall be made only by the Council <br />of the City of Martinsville and only after a public hearing on the question of <br />removal shall have been conducted by said Council. <br /> <br />All members of the Commission, as such, shall serve without compensation. <br /> <br />An emergency existing, this amendment shall become effective on and after December <br />8, 1953. <br /> <br />!~- <br />
