<br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 10. 1953 <br /> <br />Upon receipt of Audit Reports prepared by the State Auditor of Public <br /> <br />Accounts on the 1952 operations of the local Treasurer's office and the <br /> <br />City Circuit Court Clerk's office, Council noted the State Auditor's <br /> <br />complimentary comments on both offices for the excellent manner in which <br /> <br />their records were prepared and kept. <br /> <br />In its final action of the meeting, Council adopted the following resolution <br /> <br />authorizing the City School Board to proceed with the necessary forms of <br /> <br />application for state funds to finance the cost of constructing a new North <br /> <br />Martinsville Elementary School: <br /> <br />vlHEREAS, The School Board of the City of Martinsville proposes <br />tha tit enter into a contract wi th the J. V. Richardson <br />Construction Company for the construction of a new school in <br />North Martinsville at a cost of $147,999.00; and, <br /> <br />WHEBEAS, there are available funds for the construction of this <br />building from two sources, viz., $79,208.00 from the Battle <br />Construction Fund as a grant and $70,000.00 from the Virginia <br />Li. terary Fund as a loan; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this tenth day of <br />November, 1953 that it doth herein and hereQy authorize the <br />City School Board to proceed with the necessary fonns of <br />application to secure both the "Battle" and the Literary <br />funds available. <br /> <br />Council was adj ourned. <br /> <br />~~ <br />W.
