<br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 10. 1953 <br /> <br />and Martinsvill.e Coca-Cola Bottling Company that their property on River Hill <br />Road (South Bridge Street) be rezoned from t1A-2 Residential" to "B-1 Business" <br /> <br />for a depth of two hundred feet from the respective right-of-way lines fronting <br />on said River Hill Road. Having received from the City Planning Commission its <br /> <br />recommendation that not only this property be rezoned as requested but that also <br /> <br />all properties fronting on River Hill Road south of the petitioners' properties <br /> <br />be similarly rezoned, although objections were registered by the owners of these <br /> <br />other properties at a previous Council meeting as well as by subsequent letter <br /> <br />from Hr. W. S. Slaydon, III, one of the other property owners, Council by a vote <br /> <br />of four-to-one (Mayor Hodnett voting "no") went on record as approving the <br /> <br />petitioners' request and adopted the following ordinance amending the City's <br /> <br />Zoning Code: <br /> <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia <br />in regular meeting assembled this tenth day of November, 1953 that <br />the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville, entitled ItBuilding Zone <br />Map of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, dated September 1, 1946t1, <br />and the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Me.rtinsville be amended so <br />that the following described property on River Hill Road (Bridge Street <br />South) shall read and be classified as "B_1 Business" property: <br /> <br />'t:l <br />Q) <br />~ <br />o <br />Q) <br />M <br />H <br />o <br />o <br />Q) <br />C) <br />~ <br />.~ <br />-g <br />o <br />(/) <br />.ri <br />tl <br /> <br />Beginning at a point 100 feet south of the intersection of the <br />West line of Dye Plant Road with the East line of Route 220 <br />south or South Bridge street, said point being at the South end <br />of the present t1B-l Business" zone on the East side of South <br />Bridge Street, thence following along the East side of South <br />Bridge Street in a southerly direction, for a depth of 200 feet, <br />approximately 595 feet to the South line of Lot No. 19 as <br />shown on a map of the Lucy E. Fralin Est. of April, 1952 on <br />record in the City Clerk's Office. <br /> <br />.. <br />~ <br />~ <br />z <br /> <br />Beginning at a point in the West line of South Bridge Street <br />at the South end of the present llB-l Business. zone 100 feet <br />south of the intersection of Dye Plant Road with South Bridge <br />Street, thence running with the West line of South Bridge <br />Street and to a depth of 200 feet for a distance of approximately <br />200 feet to the South line of the Tuggle property. <br /> <br />The terms of this Ordinance having been duly advertised in a Notice <br />for Public Hearing, which Public Hearing was held this tenth day of <br />November, 1953, said Ordinance is hereby adopted. and, an emergency <br />existing, is made effective this tenth day of November, 1953. <br />
