A public hearing was held to ascertain the feelings of the public <br />affected, and the general feeling was tl1at this would be a benefit <br />to the gcneral area affected. <br /> <br />At the time the public hearing was held, it was the understanding of the <br />Corun~ssion that Lanier Farms, Inc., owned all of the area affected on Old <br />Danville Road, but later in a fielci check of this point it develops that <br />two other property owners are affe cte d. They are the last house and lot N. W . <br />of tile intersection of Spruce and Old Danville Road on the south side of the <br />Old Danville Road and a portion of an adjacent lot. It is assumed that these <br />two owners will be advised of these findings, in order that they may appear <br />at the. City Council's public hearing. <br /> <br />",""-' <br /> <br />Upon reconmendation of City Manager Mathewson, Council approved and authorized the <br /> <br />construction of a new sewer line on a portion of College Street, at an approximate <br /> <br />cost of $1,323.00, funds for which to be transferrcd from the Water Fund's emergency <br /> <br />appropriation account. <br /> <br />I~~ <br />at:; <br />rr <br />i <br /> <br />Council, also, approved the follovTing mcmorandum to and presented by City Manager <br /> <br />Mathewson from y~. Walker H. Graves, Director of the City's Water, Electric and <br /> <br />Street Department, with reference to a recent request filed by 1~. Garrett Wells <br /> <br />(re: water line extension): <br /> <br />Pursuant to your request, I have reviewed the circumstarees surrounding the <br />request for a water tap on Chatha.'1l Heights to a serv"ice station constructed <br />by Mr. Garrett Wells. The following information contains the facts as I <br />lmderstand them: <br /> <br />1. Thl:' Chatham Heights Corporation completed the laying of a 6-inch water <br />line from the corporate limits in an easterly (Iirection approximately <br />2500 feet in late 1952. <br /> <br />2. Mr. Wells obtained a written permission from the Chatham Heights Cor- <br />poration for a connection on the line March 1, 1953, indicating that <br />he had satisfied all the requirements of the Chathron Heiehts Corporation. <br /> <br />3. Mr. Wells started construction of his service station on August 4, 1953. <br /> <br />4. Mr. Wells first contacted the City on March 1, 1953, advising them that <br />the old building would be torn down and that he contemplated builr1.ing a <br />new station. <br />
