<br />0") <br />_ 0 '=.: <br /> <br />TUES 11ft Y <br /> <br />JULY 14, 1953 <br /> <br />In response to an invitation, Council indicated that it would be represented at a <br /> <br />Federal-State-Local Governmental Functions meeting to be held J~ 23, 1953, in <br /> <br />Richmond, Virginia. <br /> <br />Council, next, approved a deed of conveyance relative to the acquisition of <br /> <br />certain property (R. P. and T. L. Burge re: Jamison and Lovell) on the proposed <br /> <br />Route 220 Thoroughfare. <br /> <br />A petition for the installation of street lights on the Old Danville Road, as sub- <br /> <br />mi tted by residents of Old Danville Road, was referred to City Iv1anager Mathewson. <br /> <br />In response to the following request for permission to extend a City water main to a <br /> <br />point outside the City's corparate limits, Council indicated that it would adhere to <br /> <br />its present policy whereby no extensions of water mains or lines outside the corporate <br /> <br />limits are allowed: <br /> <br />We, the undersigned, being property owrers on both sides of a new street, knm'ffi <br />as f1Hanover Driven, request permission from the Council of the City of <br />Martinsville to extend the water line from M01mtain Road along this new street <br />for a distance of approximate 18.50 feet, 650 feet of this distance being in the <br />City and the balance in the County. <br /> <br />If granted this permission, we assure the Council that we wiD_ pay all costs in <br />installing this line and that the insttlHation will be done according to City <br />specification, and don~ by a responsible contractor. <br /> <br />Yours very truly, <br /> <br />... <br /> <br />Greyson L.
