<br />TUES DAY <br /> <br />DECE~ffiER 23, 195~ <br /> <br />"_. <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor R. S. Hodnett presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br />City Hall, on Tuesday, December 23, 1952, at 2:00 o'clock P.M., all members, <br /> <br />as follows, being present: Mayor and Councilman R. S. Hodnett, and Councilmen <br /> <br />C. P. Craig, D. H. Goode, W. T. Turner, and J. R. Wallcer. <br /> <br />/- <br /> <br />Minutes of the regular Council meeting held December 9, 1952, upon being read, <br /> <br />were approve d. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and carried, the following Planning Commission <br /> <br />reports and recommendations (with reference to the petition filed December 9, <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />1952 by the Chatham Heights Baptist Church concerning relocating of right-of- <br /> <br />way and with reference to Dr. John W. Clark's recent petition to rezone his <br /> <br />property on Cleveland Street) were adopted, -- Council calling for a Public <br /> <br />Hearing at its next regular meeting on the rezoning petition: <br /> <br />The Martinsville Planning Commission has duly considered the petition <br />of the Chatham Heights Baptist Church asking for an exchange of street <br />right of ways, detail of which is shown on the attached map, and wishes <br />to recommend to the City Council that this petition be granted with the <br />following stipulations: <br /> <br />1. That this request be granted as covered by a ivritten petition, attached <br />herewith, duly presented by Epperl.Y and Broaddus, attorneys for the <br />petitioners, and that the petitioners bear all legal expenses involved <br />in this transaction other than the necessary examination of the matter <br />by our City Attorney, and further, that the Planning COlTh':1ission's <br />recolTh~ndation be subject to approval by the City Attorney. <br />2. That the map showing the change of street locations be approved by the <br />Director of Public Works and be put on record. Also, that any previous <br />map of record shall be changed showing the relocation of streets. <br />3. That the Chathcun Heights Baptist Church be required, at its own expense, <br />to grade out these two new streets according to City specifications <br />and provide crushed rock on these streets, which rock shall be spread <br />to a reasonable width and depth as specified by tl<1e Public Works <br />Department. <br />
