TUES DAY DECE~ffiER 23, 195~ "_. The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor R. S. Hodnett presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, on Tuesday, December 23, 1952, at 2:00 o'clock P.M., all members, as follows, being present: Mayor and Councilman R. S. Hodnett, and Councilmen C. P. Craig, D. H. Goode, W. T. Turner, and J. R. Wallcer. /- Minutes of the regular Council meeting held December 9, 1952, upon being read, were approve d. Upon motion, duly seconded and carried, the following Planning Commission reports and recommendations (with reference to the petition filed December 9, ~ 1952 by the Chatham Heights Baptist Church concerning relocating of right-of- way and with reference to Dr. John W. Clark's recent petition to rezone his property on Cleveland Street) were adopted, -- Council calling for a Public Hearing at its next regular meeting on the rezoning petition: The Martinsville Planning Commission has duly considered the petition of the Chatham Heights Baptist Church asking for an exchange of street right of ways, detail of which is shown on the attached map, and wishes to recommend to the City Council that this petition be granted with the following stipulations: 1. That this request be granted as covered by a ivritten petition, attached herewith, duly presented by Epperl.Y and Broaddus, attorneys for the petitioners, and that the petitioners bear all legal expenses involved in this transaction other than the necessary examination of the matter by our City Attorney, and further, that the Planning COlTh':1ission's recolTh~ndation be subject to approval by the City Attorney. 2. That the map showing the change of street locations be approved by the Director of Public Works and be put on record. Also, that any previous map of record shall be changed showing the relocation of streets. 3. That the Chathcun Heights Baptist Church be required, at its own expense, to grade out these two new streets according to City specifications and provide crushed rock on these streets, which rock shall be spread to a reasonable width and depth as specified by tl<1e Public Works Department.
