Mr. Monday indicated that the litigation in New York concerning <br /> <br />Adelphia's breach of our franchise agreement is still pending and Vice Mayor <br /> <br />Clark wondered if we could ask them to not charge us for that. Mr. Monday <br /> <br />.- <br /> <br />said he would talk with them again, but he was not too optimistic. He also <br /> <br />stated that he has instructed Attorney Partee to stop further litigation if <br /> <br />appears that we will not be able to recover anything. <br /> <br />Mayor Reynolds then called on Mary Blankenship, Church Street <br /> <br />Extension, who asked where did the funds come from to pay the final bill. Mr. <br /> <br />Collins responded that the sale of the City property to Mr. Cahill in the amount <br /> <br />of $428,000 was used to offset the cost. <br /> <br />Mr. Collins stated that we have received several requests from citizens <br /> <br />recently for documents under FOIA and that we have a policy in place to charge <br /> <br />for staff time, copy charges and postage (if required), but that it has not been <br /> <br />followed consistently. However, we will start enforcing the policy and all requests <br /> <br />in the future should go through the Communications Department. The Mayor <br /> <br />stated that the effective date would be January 10, 2007. The Mayor also <br /> <br />mentioned the possibility of having a workshop on FOIA policy and procedures <br /> <br />for Council as well as citizens in the near future. <br /> <br />Council Member Anderson asked City Attorney Monday if Hunton and <br /> <br />Williams has moved to dissolve Martinsville Cable, Inc.
