<br />08 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MARCH 10, 1959 <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council in:::reased the fee <br /> <br />allowance to Mr'. A. L. Schilbe, as local motor vehicle license agent, from fifteen <br />cents (15~) per city tag sold to twenty-five cents (25i), effective March 15, 1959. <br /> <br />Cou..>'lcil continued far further study a suggestion that local busiress license taxes <br /> <br />on manufacturers be reduced or abolished, meanwhile asking far a comparison of local <br /> <br />gross receipts reparted and license taxes collected as well as the amount and <br /> <br />percentage of taxes and gross receipts by license classification to the totals for <br />the past several years. <br /> <br />Council also continued until next meeting its consideration of a proposed local <br /> <br /> <br />Welfare Department budget for the fiscal year 1959-60. <br /> <br />On behalf of Arthur Hooker Sales, Inc., Mr'. M. Harrison Joyce, Attorney and <br /> <br /> <br />counsel for this firm, requested the rezoning from "A-l Residential" to "B-1 Bus ire ss" <br /> <br /> <br />certain of the Hooker property located on Brown Street between the Central Gra.rnmar <br /> <br /> <br />School property and the Tuggle property. Council referred this request to the <br /> <br /> <br />Planning Commission for its consideration and recommendation. <br /> <br />Under date of March 10, 1959, the Planning Conunission recommended that paragraph <br /> <br /> <br />D-D of Section D of the City's Zoning Code (pertaining to advertising signs in <br /> <br /> <br />residentially-zoned areas) be deleted and abolished. Council took no action other <br /> <br /> <br />than to continue the lIE. tter pending receipt of a new and revised zoning code now <br /> <br /> <br />in process of being prepared by the Planning Commission. <br />
