4~ TOES DAY MARCH 10, 1959 The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor John W. Shultz presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, Tuesday, March 10, 1959, at 6:30 P.M., the following members being present: Mayor and Councilman John W. Shultz; Vice-Mayor and Councilman E. E. stone; and Councilmen R. S. Brawn, Jr., and C. C. Donavant. C ounc ilman Thomas J. Burch was absent because of illness. After the invocation, Council approved as read tiE minutes of its regular rooeting held Fe bruary 24, 1959. Pursu2.nt to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on a I~'i;g. I~~, f,)~.L I"~' 1!1..:'1::'.'c I ~ proposal which would establish specified set-back lines on Northside Ilr'ive (East- North Conrector Street). There being no one present objecting to the proposal, Council adopted the following ordinance amending the City's Zoning Code and Map to provide for set-back lines hereinafter described: BE IT CRDAINED by the Courx:il of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this tenth day of March, 1959, that the City's Zoning Code and Map be and is hereby arrended to provide for a "15-foot setback" on both sides of Northside Ilr'ive (East-North Connector Route) through that portion of Lester Lumber Company pr'operty now zoned for business purposes. An emergency existing, this ordinance shall be in force from date of passage. On behalf of the National Fire Protective Association, Fire Chief Clay A. Easterly presented plaques to Council in recognition of the outstanding fire prevention honors awarded the City of Martinsville Fire Department, both salaried and volunteer members, for the calendar year 1958 (see February lOth minutes).
