<br />3E <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />CCTOBER 7, 19.58 <br /> <br />Pursuant to the request of the Martinsville-Henry County Airport Developnent <br /> <br />Corporation, Council granted that organization permission to (a) extend the <br /> <br />present airport runway for a distame of approximately 320 feet south, making <br /> <br />available to the corporation the right-of-way necessary for this extension and <br /> <br />(b) to grade areas of approximately 1.50 feet on the east side and approximately <br /> <br />3.50 feet on the west side of the present runway to provide "fill" for the <br /> <br />proposed runway extension. <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />Council instructed the City Attorney to prepare necessary deeds fran Mr. W. O. <br /> <br />Branscom and Mr. and Mrs. M. I. Hutchens conveying necessary right-of-way from <br /> <br />these property owners to the City of Martimville for widening of a curve on <br /> <br />the south side of the 1/700 block" of Stultz Road. Council also authorized the <br /> <br />m\il_O, <br />!,~g <br /> <br />\~ <br />bJJ <br /> <br />execution of these deeds. <br /> <br />In concluding the business on the agenda, Council received cOlIIIOOnts from City <br /> <br />Manager Hirst on the following matters: <br /> <br />(1) Traffic Safety Inventory--report and analysis of City's safety <br /> <br />activities presented to Council; <br /> <br />~.- <br /> <br />(2) Employee Group Hospitalization Program--benefits increased at no <br /> <br />additional cost to City or employees; <br /> <br />(3) Alleged Liquor Violations--indictn:ents rendered by grand jury <br /> <br />October 6, 19.58 against twelve persons or places of business in the <br /> <br />City, City Manager Hirst indicating that he will report at intervals <br /> <br />to Council on these cases as they proceed through court; and <br /> <br />(4) 19.57-.58 Audit Report--copies of report prepared by Alexander Grant <br /> <br />&: Company distributed to members of Council. <br /> <br />Courx::il was adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />ounc~l. <br /> <br />- -..,.-..--- <br />
