<br />B. M. Byrd as Secretary, signed a deed of conveyance to the Gity for their
<br />portion of the right-of-way on July 11, 1958. Hooker Furniture Corporation,
<br />throu,;;h Mr. J. C. Hooker, President, and I.x. ':I. D. D~_110n, Secretary, signed a
<br />deed of conveyance for their portion on July 14, 1958.

<br />Loca tion surveys 2_nd studies have been carried out by the ::~ngineering
<br />Division of the City Department of Public ':Torks ~mder the supervision of 1.11:'.
<br />George W. 3rmm, Director. The maps and survey for the final route were made by
<br />J. A. Gustin and AS:Jociates, Illart:.nsville, in cooperation vritJl the City Engineer-
<br />ing Division.
<br />:rhe 1957-58 Budget of the City provided $32,000 for construction of this
<br />roadway. These func"ls have been carried over and are available this year. Sone
<br />of the $15,000, provided in the YeW current budget for neN street construction,
<br />would also be availctble, if necessary, to complete the roadway. The road would
<br />be constructed by the City Public l![orks Department. It is expected one of the
<br />first steps would be use of City Prison Farn forces to clear the right-of-way.
<br />Portions of the channel of Lesters 5ranch ,;,rill l'.l2.ve be relocated in the construc-
<br />tion. No estimated date of completion has been set.
<br />Construction of the road:1rray is considered to be the most important street
<br />construction project of the City since the buildinc of Llemorial Boulevard.

<br />In negotiatinz for 2nd securing signatures to deeds of conveyance of the right-
<br />of-way for the East-North connector Road the follo1'ring stipulations were made by
<br />City officials to the indicated parties. These constitute the on~ firm agree-
<br />ments verbally TT,de and which are not a part of the deeds. To Lester L1..unber
<br />Company the City will pro\'ide a. water comection on their Liberty Street plant
<br />to f1J.T'ni..sh water to their boilers at no cost durinG ~;uch periods as Lester's
<br />Branch is mudc1,y due to co ns t.ruc tion, or the Company 0 t2.-Ces it uses the Branch
<br />for boiler 'water. This furnishinG of water would not be in effect when the
<br />condi tions of the stream is normal nor after construction is completed. To
