~14

TUESDAY

MAY 13~ 1958

COUI'lCil continued to its next regular agenda consideration of forthcoming vacancies
on and/or appointments to the City School Board and the Planning Conunission.

By a recorded am unanimous vote Coureil established a property tax rate of $2.25
per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation for the 1958 property tax year.

Upon being advised that the Plaming Commission has approved a Cha1m.ers street
re-subdivision, under petition of Messrs. W. B. Brcwm and P. L. Parcell, Council
approved for City Manager Hirst's signature a contract between the City and the
Messrs. Bram and Parcell under terms of the City's Subdivision Ordinance.

Mt'. R. S. Foley appeared before Cowx:il and requested permission to construct a

six-inch water main from the City's water main at the Mulberry Road corporate

limits to serve a subdivision he expects to develop outside the corporate limits

in accordance with the City's subdivision requirements. Necessary to the develop-

ment would be the replacing by the City of its present two-inch water main from

Corn Tassel Trail to the corporate limits with a six-inch main. The request was

referred by Council to a special comnittee composed of City Manager Hirst, Public

Works Director George W. Brown, and Mr. Foley, for study and recommendation.

City Attorney stone informed Council that the consideration being detennined for
several small parcels of right-of-way required for the widening of Memorial
Boulevard North is insuf'ficient to satisfy existing judgments against the several
property owners and, as a result, will not permit the City to obtain clear title
to the right-of-way parcels. City Attorney Stone suggested, however, that the
consideration to be paid be applied against the judgments, in which event he
will clear the titles as completely as possible, to which Council concurred.
