<br />302 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />APRIL 22. 1958 <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst also informed Council that, as a result o~ a recent canvass <br /> <br />or survey, owners of property located just outside of the corporate limits <br /> <br />on Cir'eyson Street have indicated that they are not agreeable to paying 100% <br /> <br />of the cost of construction curb-and-gutter in front of their properties. <br /> <br />Pending the receipt of additional information, Council continued its study of <br /> <br />the City's business and occupational license tax structure. <br /> <br />A special committee appointed b7 Council February 4, 1958 to study the <br /> <br />application of Lester Brothers, Inc., for a water service connection to City <br /> <br />mains for the purpose of serving as a fire supply service to the Lester plant, <br /> <br />submitted the following recommendations which Council accepted and ordered that <br /> <br />these recommendations constitute terms of a contract to be offered Lester <br /> <br />Brothers: <br /> <br />The committee, on the basis of its study, recommends to the Council that <br />the city a1Tail itself to enter into a contract with Lester Brothers for <br />the provision of standby fire water service with the general provisions <br />that the firm would construct the line from the corporate limits to the <br />plant; that if the line from the city to the plant was felt by the city <br />to be desirable to be of a size larger than for +ester Brothers that <br />the city assume the difference in expense for the larger main; that the <br />line within the public right-of-way be deeded to the city upon completion <br />of construction; that the firm construct such lines within its plant area <br />and make such revisions to the system at its own expense as wrnAld be <br />necessary in accordance with the requirements of the State Health <br />Department, the Fire Underwriters, and the city to separate the fire <br />system from the domestic system; that, if the water service is to be <br />used for fire protection only, there be no charge for water furnished <br />or requirement of metering except as the city at its own expense install <br />a detector meter; that the firm make an annual payment to the city in <br />the form of a water charge payment as of I-l'ay 1 of each year in the amount <br />of 130t per $100 of gross sales of the firm for the previous reportable <br />year with this payment being on an advanced basis and be levied on prior <br />gross sales to cover fire protection water service for the forthComing <br />year from Hay 1. <br /> <br />Recommendation is fU~ther made that the Council, if the firm should so <br />request, enter into a contract with the firm for the sale of domestic or <br />industrial water supply to be sold at the prevailing rate outside of the <br />corporate limits with all of the above provisions being applicable except <br />that there would be the necessity of metering. <br />
