Council took no action on the Tax Study Advisory Group's study report of 1955, pertaining to local business and occupational license taxation, rrut continued this matter on next meeting's agenda for consideration. Council also continued until its next regular meeting a requested amending and/or revision of Section 10-27 of the City Code relating to restrictions upon rr~nors in connection with local pool rooms; however, Council placed upon first reading the following suggested ordinance revising said Section 10-27: BE IT ormAINED by the Council of the City of Yartinsville, Virginia in regular meeting assembled, tr~t Section 10-27 of Chapter 10 of the Code of the City of Hs.rtinsville, Virginia enacted July 23, 1957 as the Code of the City of t~tinsville, Virginia 1956, said Chapter 10 titled "Offenses -- l<'iscellaneous," Section 10-27 thereof titled "Poolrooms", be aHended and re-enacted to read as follows: m-'-' '.."". ~~ .~ Section 10-27. Poolrooms -- It shall be unlawful to operate a poolroom or billiard room in the City of hartinsville except in compliance with the following provisions and regulations: No person or corporation shall operate a public poolroom or billiard room wi thin the City of t.JB.rtinsville unless the same sball be located on the ground or street level floor of said building. Pool or billiards sLs..ll "'ot be aIle by tl"e operator c said Dre"'1:i.ses .- No operator of any said poolroom or billiard room shall allow minors under eigbteen (18) years of age to participate in any games in said establisml~nt or to loiter, lounge or frequent said establishment unles~; the minor is accompanied by his parent or guardian or unless the onerator has on file in said premises the signed written consent of either parent or guardian of said minor permitting said minor to frequent and play pool in said prenrises, which said consent shall state the name and address of the parent or guardian and the minor, setting fortb the birth date of the minor, the premises to which the consent applies and any lindtations on said consent, and provided f\u~ther that such written consent shall be kept and made available by the operator of said premises to any member of the Police Department of the City of lhrtinsville at any time upon deI:1E.nd of said police officer.
