4:0

TUESDAY

NOVIDLBER 12 J 19S7

After receiving the .t'ollowirg report from the Planni1:g Commission pertaining to

Mr. C. M. Finney's request that certain of his property located adjacent to Sellers

Street be rezoned from "B...l Busi:mssn to "A-2 Residential", Council ordered a

duly-advertised public hearing to be held on November 26, 19S7, at 7:30 P.M., in
the Council Chamber, City Hall:

Honorable Mayor and Cit.u Coun::il
City" of Martirsville, Virginia

Gentlemen:

At a meeting of your City P1a.nnirg Commission on October 15, 1957, a
petition was presented to the Commission by ),to. Charlie M. Finney requesting
that a portion of property o'WD!!d by him, lying between Sellers Street and
:Memorial Boulevard near the Norfolk and Western railroad, be rezoned !ran
B-l Business to A-2 Residential. The Commission gave consideration to this
request and set a public hearing on same for October 29, 1957 at 2:00 P.M.

The P1ann1ng Canmission, at its meeti~ on October 29, 1957, gave further
consideration to this request after ascertaining the views of the people
in this neighborhood and as a result, voted unanimously to make the
following recon:mendation to City Council:

That the area as requested be rezoned from B-1 Busiress to an A-2 Residential
classification.

It was the feeling of the Commission that the intended use of the property
in question and the topographic cor.ditions that prevailed warranted this
zoning change. It is the intention of the petitioner to subdivide this
property which lies in a predominately residential area for use as residential
property.

The Planni~ Commission respect.t'ul13" submits the above recomendation for
Council's further comideration.

Yours very truly,

S.
