For the Fire Department it is proposed:

(a) To discontinue the present system of charging fire-

men for uniforms.

(b) To purchase a new 750 gpm pumper unit on a com-

mercial chassis at a cost of $10,850.00. This new truck would

replace engine No. 3 which is a civilian defense pumper built

in 1940. Engine No.2, a 1934 American LaFrance, will go

into reserve. No. 2 is a Clas s B engine rated for 20 years.

The Underwriters have it on temporary probation and after

next year they will no longer rate it. Parts for it are expen-

sive, and, any rebuilding will not help its rating.

14. The City bears

26.3% of these expenditures, the State the remainder.

16.
