<br />.48 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MAY 14. 1957 <br /> <br />In connection with the foregoing, Mr. Roy C. stone requested that the present <br />CODllercial depth zoning on his property on the East side of Memorial Boulevard <br />South--conaisting of approximately 320 feet frontage from Frank' s Food Fa ir <br /> <br />south-be increased for the entire depth of his property. Council referred <br /> <br />Mr. Stone's request to the Planning Commission for its consideration and <br /> <br />recommendation. <br /> <br />Also pursuant to dulr-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public <br /> <br />hearing on the Planning Commission' s recommendation that ten-foot setback <br /> <br />lines be established on Memorial Boulevard South from the intersection of <br /> <br />Rivermont Heights to the south corporate limits. There being no objections <br /> <br />registered, Council accepted the Planning Commission's reccmmendation by <br /> <br />adopting the following ordinance amending the City's Zoning Code and Zoning <br /> <br />Map, effective immediately: <br /> <br />BE IR ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this fourteenth day of May, 1957, that <br />the Zoning Code and Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville be and is <br />hereby amended to provide that ten-foot building setback lines are <br />herewith established on both sides of Memorial Boulevard South from <br />a point one hundred (100) feet south of the old intersection of <br />Rivermont Heights (formerly Dye Plant Road) to the City's south <br />corporate limits. <br /> <br />An emergency existing, this ordinance shall be in force from date <br />of passage. <br /> <br />By letter dated April 26th Mr. John L. Gregory, Jr., asked that he not be <br /> <br />considered for reappointment to the City School Board for a new term <br /> <br />beginning July 1, 1957. Council acceded to Mr. Gregory's request with <br /> <br />regrets, acknowledging with appreciation the valuable services rendered <br />by him while serving as a member of the School Board. Council then <br /> <br />unanimously appointed Mr. Thornton G. Wampler to membership on the School <br /> <br />Board for a three-year term beginning July 1, 1957 and, also, unanimously <br /> <br />reappointed Mr. Henry C. Reed to membership on the School Board for a <br />
