<br />l34 <br /> <br />TlESDAY <br /> <br />APRIL 9. 1957 <br /> <br />9. All persons using the facilities will conduct themselves in <br />a gentlemanly manner and refrain from any behavior which may <br />reflect on the good reputation of the Fire Company or City <br />of Martinsvil1e. <br /> <br />10. The House Committee reserves the right to make whatever <br />additional rules it or the City deem necessary with the <br />approval of the Company. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of City Manager Hirst, Council authorized the placing <br /> <br />of orders for the following equipment to be used in the Electric Sub- <br /> <br />station #3 project, funds for which to be provided in the 1957-58 budget: <br /> <br />34.5 KV Oil Circuit Breaker <br />Switches necessary to breaker <br />Revamp metering pot to double capacity <br /> <br />$15,950.00 <br />1,200.00 <br />1,551.00 <br /> <br />Council received from City Manager Hirst financial data supplementing other <br /> <br />schedules previously placed before Council in connection with ways and means <br /> <br />of financing the School Board's proposed $2,200,000 school building program. <br /> <br />Council agreed to consider further this information at its next regular <br /> <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Under date of ~mrch 27, 1957 the state Water Control Board requested the <br /> <br />presence of City officials at the Board's May 27th meeting to discuss the <br /> <br />status of the City's proposed pollution abatement program. CO'I.mcil <br /> <br />indicated its intention of sending representatives to this meeting. <br /> <br />In response to letter dated April 8, 1957 from Mr. C. T. Williams, Jr., <br /> <br />President of Southwestern Virginia Gas Company, regarding the Council's <br /> <br />action of Y~rch 26, 1957 with respect to the Company's desire to meet <br /> <br />with the Council regarding the gas franchise, Council advised that <br /> <br />Mr. l1illiams may appear before Cot:ncil at its forthcoming April 23rd <br /> <br />meeting if Mr. Williams or his firm can present facts and information <br /> <br />not previously presented pertinent to the ~ompany's gas franchise <br /> <br />extension request. <br />
