<br />94 <br /> <br />TUES DAY <br /> <br />DECEMBER 18, 1956 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor F. V. Woodson presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br />City Hall, on Tuesday, December 18, 1956, at 4:00 P.M., with all members <br /> <br />present, as follows: Mayor and Counciman F. V. ~'foodson; Vice-Mayor and Council- <br /> <br />man John 11[. Shultz; and Councilmen B. H. Hill, E. E. Stone, and J. R. Walker. <br /> <br />As ordered by Council during its December 11th meeting, tIns meeting was held in <br /> <br />lieu of the regular~-6cheduled meeting falling on Christmas Day. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its meeting held <br />December 11, 1956. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of City Manager Hirst, Council authorized the purchasing for <br />the sum of $5,300.00 a tract of land (100' by 130') from Mr. R. S. Brown, Sr., <br />for the site of the Electric Division's proposed electric substation #3, this <br />tract being located near the Carolina & Northwestern Railimy Company's tracks <br />across from Gravely Novelty Furniture Company's I\lIartinsvi11e plant. By a <br />recorded and unanimous vote, Council appropriated from estimated property tax <br />surplus the sum of $5,300.00 to the Electric Fund for the acquisition of the <br />property. <br /> <br />U;?on recommendation of the City Manager, Council adopted the fOllOWing resolution <br />indicating Council's acceptance of the plarming report (for sewage disposal plant, <br />collector lines, and interceptor lines) submitted by iifiley & Wilson, Consulting <br />Engineers, on December ll, 1956, Council also authorizing the filing of copies <br />of the report with the State Health Department and with the State Water Contt-ol <br />Board: <br /> <br />-, <br />
