Woodson presiding, was held in. the Coumil ChaDber, City Hall, on <br />Tuesday-, NoveldJer 27, 1956, at 7 :.30 P .11., all members being present as to1lows: <br />),fayor and Councilman F. V. Woodson; Vice-Mayor and Councilman John W. Shultz; and <br />CounciJJren B. H. Hill, E. E. Stone, and J. R. Walker. <br /> <br />Atter the invocation, Council approved as read the minutes ot its regular meeti~ <br />held November 13, 1956. <br /> <br />Carrying out Council's intention indicated during its meeting of June 26, 1956 'When <br />consideriIl:t and accepting City Manager Hirst's report with resPeCt to the Volunteer <br /> <br />Fire Compa.I\YlS request tar permission to be allowed to construct a cottage on <br /> <br />~"'.Z:"<" <br />);i! <br />r; <br />l,\~ <br /> <br />Beaver Creek Impounding Reservoir property, Council approved tor the City Manager's <br /> <br />sigmture a contract or agreement with the Volunteer Fire Company incorporating the <br /> <br />terns and conditions as set torth before Council on June 26th. <br /> <br />"- <br /> <br />Again considering the petition presented November 11th by the Albert Harris PTA and <br /> <br />other interested citizens, Ci'tiY lIanager Hirst reported tt.a.t both matters, i.e., <br /> <br />additional school guards and certain improvements to West Fayette Street, are now <br />being studied. <br /> <br />CoureU was advised that specific tinancia1 data requested :trom the Southwestern <br />Virginia Gas Conq:e.ny has been received, whereupon Council indicated that it would <br /> <br />consider at its next regular meeting the gas compal:\Y's recent request that an <br />extension be made soon by Councilor its franchise due to expire in 1959. <br />
