Inasmuch as there are certain details yet to be worked out in connection wi th the exchange of right-of-way along Pumphouse Road with Mrs. Elsie P. Young for a sewer line easement, Council concurred in City Manager Hirst's recommendation that this iten be removed from the a:;enda pending a further report. Upon recommendation of both City Attorney Stone and City Commissioner J. David Morris, Council adopted the following ordinance amendinG tl1e City's Business & Occupational Licens e Tax Ordinance: AN ORDINANCE AI'iIEiIDING THE BUSI hlfSS A:m OCCUPATIOnAL LICENSE TAZ OHDIIJANCE .oF' THE CITY OF rIJAP.TINS'IIILE BE IT ORDAINED by the Conncil of tffi City of M2rtins\iille, Virginia that the License Tax Ordinance of the City of Martinsville be amended by adding to the present ordinance a Section designated as 27.1 through 27.7 to read as follovm: 27.1 RETAIL 15.:mC ANT'S LICE:B E REQUFlED; AMOUNT OF TAX; NO PiWRATION. -- Every person, firm and corporation engaged in the business of selling goods, wares and merchandise through the use of coin-operated vending machines shall be classified as a retail merchant. Every such person, firm a"1d corporation shall pay a tax of thirty-seven cents on each one hundred dolJ2rs of gross sales through such vending machine in each calendar year or part thereof. Such volume tax sllall be collected by the City Treasurer under such rules and regulations as may be prescribed by the Commissioner of Revenue. 27.2 nEGISTRY AED BOND. --Every such person, firm and corporation, before commencin~ to do such business in this City, shall register with the Commissioner of Revenue of this City, and deposit with the Commissioner a bond to insure the keeping of adequate recor ds, the filing of reports in such form and at such tines as may be prescribed by the Commissioner and the proper payrent of the taxes imposed by this Section. The form and amount of the bond shall be determined by the Commissioner and the surety thereon shall be approved by him.
