<br />9. 1 !! 0 F ~!!! 1: ! ! ~ !! ~ ~ ~, <br /> <br />VIRGINIA <br /> <br />-------- <br /> <br />ELECTRIC DIVISION <br /> <br />WATER HEATERS APPROVED FOR USE <br />UNDER WATER HEATER SERVICE mOVISIONS <br />DOMESTIC SERVICE TARIFF <br /> <br />The approv~~ t)~e of_electric water heater, as contemplated under paragraph <br />"Ylater Heater Service" of the Domestic Service tariff, shall conform. to <br />the follmving standards: <br /> <br />Domestic electric water heaters approved for use under the vrater <br />heater service provisions of the domestic service tariff shall be <br />manufactured in accordance with NEMA. (National Electrical Manufacturers <br />Association) standards for construction, insulation, controls, etc., and <br />shall consist of a permanentl;y' installed tank of not less than 30 gallons <br />capacity with two thermostatically controlled elements totalling at least <br />1000 watts. The smaller element, located at the bottom of the tank shall <br />not exceed 2000 watts. The larger or booster element, located approximately <br />one-quarter of the way down the tank from the top, shall not exceed 3000 <br />watts. <br /> <br />1'1hen a heater has elements totalling over 3000 watts it shall be <br />connected so that both elements will not operate at the same time. <br /> <br />Where manufacturers are not able to certify that their heaters are <br />built to NEMA standards, the City reserves the right to have its Olm tests <br />of heaters conducted before such heaters are accepted for use under the <br />'tater heater service provisions of the oomestic service tariff. <br /> <br />,,..-..... <br /> <br />- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - <br /> <br />Effective January 11, 1955 <br />
