<br />324 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE D, 1961 <br /> <br />The regular semi.-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martirnville, <br /> <br />Virgini.a, with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br />City Hall, Tuesday, June D, 1961, at 7:15 P.M., and with all members of Council <br /> <br />present, viz., Mayor J. Frank Wilson; Vice-Mayor Fred T. Renick; and Messrs. <br /> <br />Thomas J. Burch, E. E. Stone, and Harry L. Boaz. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its regular meeting <br /> <br />held May 23, 1961, and of its special meeting held June 6, 1961. <br /> <br />In accordance with duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing <br /> <br />on the C. Y. Thomas Estate's petition requesti~ the rezoning to "B-1 Busiress" of <br /> <br />its property located on the southwest s ide of Brookdale Street and adjacent to the <br /> <br />southeast boundary of the Prillaman & Pace plumbing and heating establishment. <br /> <br />There being no objections registered, Council accepted the Planning Commission's <br /> <br />recolT'.mendation that the petition be approved and, also, adopted the following <br /> <br />ordinance effecting the requested rezoning, thus amending the City's Zoning Code <br /> <br />and Map acc:ordingJy: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br />regular meeting assembled June 13, 1961, that the City's Zoning Code and <br />Zoning Map be and are hereby amended to classify as "B-1 Business", for <br />zoning purposes, that certain property owned by the C. Y. Thomas Estate <br />and lying on the southwest side of Brookdale Street and immediately <br />adjacent to (on the southeast side of) property owned and occupied by <br />Prillan:e.n and Pace. <br /> <br />Also in accordance with duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public <br /> <br />hearing on a petition of Lani.er Farm, Inc., requesting the rezoning to nB-I <br /> <br />Business" of its property, with specified set-back thereon, located on the south <br /> <br />side of Spruce Street between Parkview Avenue and Indian Trail. Written objection <br /> <br />was received from Mr. and Mrs. John G. Ullman, of 719 Indian Trail, and verbal <br />
