<br />BE IT ORDAI NED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 11fk'lTHSVILLE:

<br />Section 1. That there be granted in the mode prescribed by law,
<br />the non-exclusive right and privilege to use the streets, alleys
<br />and other public place s of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, for
<br />the term and upon the conditions and subject to the restrictions
<br />embodied in the following ordinance, namely:

<br />AN ORD INANCE
<br />
<br />That the right is here by granted unto
<br />"grantee", its successors and assigns, for the term and subject to
<br />the conditions and limitations hereinafter stated, to use the streets,
<br />alleys and public places of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, and
<br />to acquire, erect, maintain and use, and if now constructed to w~intain
<br />and use, poles, towers, ,fires, and appliances over and along, and to
<br />acquire, construct, maintain and use, and if now constructed to maintain
<br />and use, conduits or sutMays, including necessary manholes, and to run
<br />cables and wires in, under and over and along the streets, alleys and
<br />publ:1.c places of the City of MartinsvHle, for the purpose of operating
<br />a telephone system within the corporate liwits of the City of Martinsville
<br />as these limits may now exist or may hereafter be extended or altered.

<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COU~IL OF THE CITY OF l1tffiTINSVII.J..E:

<br />Section 1. Definitions.
<br />
<br />a. Whenever the word "grantee" annears in this ordinance, it is
<br />intended to designate and shall be held to mean
<br />its successors and assigns.
<br />
<br />b. Hhenever the .lOrd "city" appears in this ordinance, it is intended
<br />to designate and shall be held to mean the City of Martinsville, Virginia.
<br />
<br />c. Whenever the word "streets" appears in this ordinance, it is intended
<br />and shall be held to mean, for the purpose of this ordinance, streets,
<br />alleys, avenues, highvrays, or any other public Hays or areas in the
<br />City of Martinsville.

<br />d. Whenever the word "service" appears in this ordinance, it is
<br />intended and shall be held to have the meaning given said term in Section
<br />56-233 of the Virginia Code of 1950, or in any amendments thereto.
<br />
<br />Section 2. Grant of Authority. Subject to the provlSlons, conditions,
<br />and restrictions hereinafter set forth, there is hereby Granted to
<br />, grantee, for a period of thirty (30) years from. the
<br />effective date of this ord~nance, the right to use the streets of the city
<br />to operate and maintain a telephone system within the limits of the city,
<br />and for these purposes to acquire, erect, maintain and use, and if now
<br />constructed to maintain and use, poles, towers, wires, and appliances
<br />over and along, and to acquire, construct, maintain and use, conduits or
<br />subways, including necessary manholes, and to run cables and wires in,
<br />under and over and along the streets within the corporate limits of the
<br />city as said corporate limits now exist or may hereafter be extended or
<br />altered.
