228 FRD:JA Y OCTOBER 28, 1960 A special and duly-called meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Hayor J. Frank Wilson presiding was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, Friday, October 28, 1960, at 12:30 P.M., and with all members present, viz., Mayor and Councilman J. Frank Wilson; Vice-Mayor and Councilman Fred T. Renick; and Councilmen Thomas J. Burch, E. E. Stone, and Harry L. Boaz. After the invocation, Council considered the stated purposes of this meeting, which were: 1. Consideration of vacancy in position of City Attorney; and 2. Incorporation into the minutes of a formal resolution relating to agreement with Appalachian Power Company on installation of street lighting in annexed area. After acknowledging and accepting the resignation of J1r. Claude E. Taylor, Jr., as City Attorney,--Mr. Taylor and his family having recently moved to Fort Myers, Florida--Council unanimmlsly nominated and appointed ~~. Irvin W. Cubine, Attorney at Law, as City Attorney, effective November 1, 1960, at the annual salary rate last paid Mr. Taylor. With reference to "purpose 2" of this meeting and to Council's action of October 11, 1960, Council unanimously adopted the following resolution providing for the acceptance by the City and the execution by its representatives of a contract with the Annalachian Power Company whereby Appalachian will furnish, install, maintain, and provide electric service for, a designated n~~ber of street lights at designated points wi thin the area annexed to the City of Hs.rtinsvi lIe on January 1, 1960, which contract carried the addendum hereinafter written following said resolution: - - .. ..~-._"~..__._._.___.~_._'""_.o.,,_,____..,~__.~~.,_____.~"'__.
