<br />L80 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 28, 1960 <br /> <br />Upon motion of Councilman Donavant, seconded by Coureilman Burch, Council <br /> <br />adopted the following ordinance effecting said requested rezoning and amending <br /> <br />the City's Zoning Code and Map, contingent upon the establishment of building <br /> <br />setback lines--yet to be determined--to provide for future widening of both <br /> <br />Cleveland and Church Streets: <br /> <br />BE IT CRDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular lIBeting assenbled June 28, 1960, that the City's Zoning <br />Code and Zoning Map be and is hereby amended to classify as "B-1 <br />Business", for zoning purposes, that property located at the south- <br />east corner of ChU['ch street at its intersection with Cleveland Street, <br />more specifically described as Lot No.1, of Block I in Section 33, <br />fronting 116 feet on Church Street md 100 feet on Cleveland Street, <br />as shown on the Real Property Map records on file in the office of the <br />Commissiomr of the Revenue for the City of Martinsville, Virginia. <br /> <br />A report by Coun:::il's special com.ittee, assigned the duty of working out various <br /> <br />details and conditions in connection with the contemplated sale of the Cityls <br /> <br />"Airport Property", indicated that from two-to-three months will be required <br /> <br />before the property can be offered for sale. Mr. R. ,P. Grave~, Jr., appeared <br /> <br />before Council and offered certain suggestions in connection with this matter. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst reported that the Henry County Board of Supervisors has <br /> <br />eX:PI"essed its desire to revise its contract with the City for the board and <br /> <br />lodging of "City" prisoners to provide for a rate adjustment from $1.04 per <br /> <br />"City" prisoner day to $2.00 per ftCity" prisoner~. Mr. Hirst indicated that <br /> <br />he will develop information for C oure ills consideration within the near future. <br /> <br />Council took under adviserent for study a request submitted by Fuller Tire <br /> <br />Company, through its counsel, Attorney Harrison Joyce, for business license tax <br /> <br />reclassification to "Manufacturers & Processors" on that portion of business <br /> <br />done as automobile tire recapping. <br />
