<br />1{ <br /> <br />TUES DA Y <br /> <br />APiUL 26, 1960 <br /> <br />indicated that they did not necessarily desire to terminate the contract but, <br /> <br />insteccd, desire to negotiate a revised "per diem" rate and, to that end, appointed <br /> <br /> <br />a special committee to confer with City officials. Council's reaction was to the <br /> <br /> <br />effect that it will be pleased to discuss this matter with the committee from the <br /> <br /> <br />Supervisors; however, Courcil directed that notice be served on the Supervisors <br /> <br /> <br />that the City desires to terminate its contract with HerIr'Y County :Cor the keeping <br /> <br /> <br />of Henry County prisoners committed to the City Farm. <br /> <br />Council took lmder adviseIlEnt a recommendation submitted by Mr. Leon Globman that <br /> <br />the Citizens Parking Committee, of vrhich he was chairman an::! which ,'TaS authorized <br /> <br />by CO'J.rcil on August 13,1957, be re-activated and that vacancies now existing <br />thereon be filled. <br /> <br />Council requested the accounting firm of Alexander Grant and Company to conduct an <br /> <br />a'J.dit of the City's fiscal accO'\mts and records for the year ending June 30, 1960, <br />at the close of the year. <br /> <br />Upon being advised that Mr. Robert A. Barbour, Farmington Court, was conducting a small <br /> <br />television repair busiress in his home prior to his property being annexed to the City <br /> <br />on January 1, 1960, Coureil authorized Commissiorer of the Revenue J. David Morris to <br /> <br />issue a City business license to Mr. Barbour although the entire area is zoned "residential". <br /> <br />Counc il suggested that the Board of Zoning Appeals consider granting a variance to the <br /> <br />City's zoning regulations in this case should Mr. Barbour desire to continue this business <br /> <br />indefinitely. <br /> <br />City Manager Hrrst announced the appointment of Mr. William L. Lm;, a graduate of <br /> <br /> <br />VirgL1:La Polytechnic Institute in civil engineering and presently with Wiley & Wilson, <br />
