1r TUESDAY APRIL 26, 1960 One owner of property adjacent to the property requested rezoned l!faS present and inqu5red of Council as to the extent of the proposed grading of the property requested rezoned and, als 0, as to its effect on his property from a standpoint of terrain and hazard. Thero being no objections to said requested rezoning, Council unani'Jously adopted the following ordinance effecting said rezoning and, also, amendin;:::; the City's Zoning Ccx:ie and Map: "'--, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this twenty-sixth day of April, 1960 that the Zoning Code and Map of the City of Martinsville be and is hereby amended to yrovide for the zoning to "B-l Business" that property owned by Nease, Wheeler, & Blackard, In., and located on the north side of Memorial Boulevard, immediately west of the intersection of Memorial Boulevard and Fayette street, which property is hereinafter more particularly- described: " Begin.'1ing at a point in the east line of Beaver street 150 feet north of the north lino .of Memorial Boulevard; thence leaving Beaver Street and running along tho toe of a l~-to-l cut slope, the top of which is described as follows: Along the east line of Beaver street beginning at the above- . 0 described point N. 2 47' E. 266.42 feet to John A. DO 01' E. 45 feet to Smith Road; thence along Smith Road s. 660 III E. 77.24 feet, S. 750 351 E. 267.91 feet to a point; thence loaving Smith Road following the back line of a tier of lots fronting Fayette Street s. 140 211 vr. 300 feet to the north line of Glenn street (at this point said zoning line leaves tlle toe of the cut slope and ties to the last- described point in the north line of Glenn Street); thence crossing Glenn street and continuing with the back line of a tier of lots fronting Fayette street to a point 150 feet north of I1iEmorial Boulevard; thence along a line 150 feet north of and parallel to the north line of Memorial Boulevard 622 feet more' or less to the point of beginning. -- In response to Zentmeyer Coal & Oil Company's recent petiition for abatement of sewer service charges on its utility bill rendered March 1, 1960, Council continued the matter -- pendil1f.'; preparation of a statement of policy now being drafted by City Manager Hirst.
