<br />lC <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />DECEMBER 8. 1959 <br /> <br />/.-- <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsvllle, <br />Virginia, with J.hyor John W. Shultz presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, <br />City Hall, Tuesday, December 8, 1959, at 6:30 P.M., all members being present, <br />viz., Mayor and Councilman John W. Shultz; Vice-Mayor and Councilman E. E. Stone; <br />and Councilmen Thomas J. Burch, Clarence C. Donavant, and J. Frank Wilson. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its regular <br />meeting held November 30, 1959. <br /> <br />Pursuant to Council's November 30th directions, City Attorney Claude E. Taylor, Jr., <br /> <br />presented a draft of a proposed ordinance which would amend Se crliion 2-4 of <br /> <br />Chapter 2, Part II, (Animals and Fowl - Article I), of the City Code, pertaining <br /> <br />to the keeping of livestock and fowl within the corporate limits. After some <br /> <br />discussion with representatives of the Health Department as well as with certain <br /> <br />interested citizens present, Council continued the matter for further study. <br /> <br />/--- <br /> <br />Continuing its consideration of the requested closing of a portion of an alleyway off <br />Jefferson Street near Thomas Heights, on which a report of a Board of Viewers was <br />received by Council on November 30, 1959, Council further continued the petition <br />and decided to meet at the site on December 14, 1959 with interested parties to view <br />the alleyway. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Council received the following Planning Commission reports and recommendations, the <br />first dealing with the Whittle subdivision east of Knollwood Place and south of <br />Mulberry Road, in Henry County, and the second with the Baldwin-Ramsey petition <br />requesting the closing of Sellers Street between West Church Street and Memorial <br />Boulevard, Council deciding to view the Sellers Street site on December 14, 1959: <br />
