<br />1(] <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 10, 1959 <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of an award from the American Institute of Traffic <br /> <br />Engineers recognizing the City's high level of performance in traffic engineering <br /> <br />for the calendar year 1958. <br /> <br />/- <br /> <br />Council continued for further consideration a petition from various citizens <br /> <br />residing in the Prospect Hill Drive-Gratton Road area requesting amendroonts to the <br /> <br />City's Health & Sanitation Code to restrict further the keeping of livestock within <br /> <br />the c orpor ate limits. <br /> <br />Mr. Martin Johnson and Mr. Garland Page, Jr., of Wiley & Vlilson, Consulting Engineers, <br /> <br /> <br />J:vrnchburg, Virginia, appeared before Council and discussed various phases--construct- <br /> <br /> <br />ing, financing, and otherwise-of the City's proposed sewerage system improvement <br /> <br /> <br />program as well as the information to be presented before the state Water Control <br /> <br /> <br />Board on November 24, 1959, on which date the City has been directed to appear before <br /> <br /> <br />the Board. <br /> <br />On reconnnendation of Vice-Mayor Stone, Council by a recorded and unanimous vote <br /> <br /> <br />appropriated from its General Fund Emergency Account the sum of $250.00 towards <br /> <br /> <br />defraying expenses--or an honorarium in lieu of expenses--of the Dean of Lynchburg <br /> <br />College in connection with his forthcoming speaking engagement among city schools, <br /> <br /> <br />sponsored by the Human Values Commission. <br /> <br /> <br />of Council <br />
