<br />92 <br /> <br />TUES DAY <br /> <br />OCTOBER 13, 1959 <br /> <br />A request, by letter dated ~tober 9, 1959, by Doyle Ready-Mix Comrete Compan;y, <br /> <br />Inc., for release from a right-of-way agreement involving the southern boundary <br /> <br />of the Doyle property in East Martirnville, was continued at the request of the <br /> <br />petitioner. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of a "Traffic Safety Inventory Report", prepared by <br /> <br />the National Safety Cour:cil in conjunction with the American Automobile Associa- <br /> <br />tion, in which the City of Martinsville was awarded outstanding recognition for <br /> <br />its traffic safety activities duriq; the calendar year 1958. <br /> <br />In response to several inquiries received by City Manager Hrrst, Council <br /> <br />authorized Mr. Hrrst to rent the City's property at the corner of Church and <br /> <br />Moss Streets and, also, the recently-acquired Stanley property on Moss Street <br /> <br />on a ftthirty-day notice" basis. <br /> <br />By a unanimous vote, Council elected and appointed Mr. William Z. Ford to member- <br /> <br />ship on the Planning Commission for the unexpired term of Councilman J. Frank <br /> <br />Wilson, resigned, which term will expire July 1, 1962. <br /> <br />Through City Manager Hirst Council received the latest reports of inspection <br /> <br />by the State Departroont of Welfare & Institutions of the City's retention <br /> <br />facilities. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst announced the beginning of "Frre Prevention Week" and then <br /> <br />discussed with Council various aspects of local traffic accidents during the <br /> <br />current year, after which Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />)\ <br />W.
