72

T1JESDAY

SEPTE1ffiER 8, 1959

:Mrs. John Vi. Simmons, one of the petitioners, explained her interest in

requesting the ten-foot set-back, outlim_ng expected future use of her

property, whereupon Council suggested that she present such information and

plans in the form of a rezoning petition to the Planning Commission in order

that the set-back petition can be reconsidered.

By letter dated August 25, 1959, Mr. C. W. Holt urged that Council make every

effort to proceed with the widening of Bridge Street between Church and

Chestnut Streets; however, at Mr. Holt's request Council agreed to hold this

matter in abeyance pending further investigation.

Mr. William Edwards and other residents of Second Street appeared before Council

and advised that full participation is guaranteed on the part of all property

owners on Second Street if the City will authorize curb-and-gutter construction

for the entire street instead of the one block previously authorized; whereupon,

Council approved the project (of curb-and-gutter for all of Second Street) for

completion during the current year, directing that other projects already

approved be shifted if participation has not been obtained from the property

owrnrs involved.

Council postponed consideration of Treasurer William R. Shll1nate IS request for

salary adjustments for his deputies, and similarly City Sergeant James L.

Carter IS 1960 budget requests, until all local constitutional officer IS 1960

budget requests have been received.
