Simmons, one of the petitioners, explained her interest in <br /> <br />requesting the ten-foot set-back, outlim_ng expected future use of her <br /> <br /> <br />property, whereupon Council suggested that she present such information and <br /> <br />plans in the form of a rezoning petition to the Planning Commission in order <br /> <br />that the set-back petition can be reconsidered. <br /> <br />By letter dated August 25, 1959, Mr. C. W. Holt urged that Council make every <br /> <br /> <br />effort to proceed with the widening of Bridge Street between Church and <br /> <br /> <br />Chestnut Streets; however, at Mr. Holt's request Council agreed to hold this <br /> <br /> <br />matter in abeyance pending further investigation. <br /> <br />Mr. William Edwards and other residents of Second Street appeared before Council <br /> <br /> <br />and advised that full participation is guaranteed on the part of all property <br /> <br /> <br />owners on Second Street if the City will authorize curb-and-gutter construction <br /> <br /> <br />for the entire street instead of the one block previously authorized; whereupon, <br /> <br /> <br />Council approved the project (of curb-and-gutter for all of Second Street) for <br /> <br /> <br />completion during the current year, directing that other projects already <br /> <br /> <br />approved be shifted if participation has not been obtained from the property <br /> <br /> <br />owrnrs involved. <br /> <br />Council postponed consideration of Treasurer William R. Shll1nate IS request for <br /> <br /> <br />salary adjustments for his deputies, and similarly City Sergeant James L. <br /> <br /> <br />Carter IS 1960 budget requests, until all local constitutional officer IS 1960 <br /> <br /> <br />budget requests have been received. <br />
