Stone, Councilman <br /> <br />From: <br /> <br />City Manager <br /> <br />Subject: <br /> <br />1959-60 City Budget <br /> <br />By this letter I herewith transmit to you the proposed budget guide for the receipt <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />and disbursement of the funds of the City of MartinsvUle for the fiscal year <br /> <br />commencing July I, 1959, and ending June 30, 1960. <br /> <br />In presenting this budget schedule, credit is expressed, as it is justly deserved, <br /> <br />to the employees of the city in their many varied capacities, who have contributed <br /> <br />to the formulation of this budget, and who, more importantly, through their day- <br /> <br />to-day services make for Martinsville the high standard of government as does <br /> <br />prevail. Each employee of the city is deserving of that recognition and I accord- <br /> <br />ingly direct the attention of the City Council to them. For their efforts, in behalf <br /> <br />of the preparation of budget, particular note is taken of the cooperation and <br /> <br />diligence of the constitutional officers; the superintendent of schools, and his <br /> <br />staff; each of the heads of the various city departments, and their staffs; <br /> <br />Mr. W. Holladay Yeaman, director of finance, together with the personnel of <br /> <br />.' <br /> <br />his office; and, my secretary. When the work of the city and its personnel is <br /> <br />evaluated, simultaneous thought and recognition must be given to those citizen <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />groups, who like the Council, have, especially over the past year, contributed <br /> <br />with value to the present and the future of the city. Among such groups would <br /> <br />- 1 - <br />
