<br />18. Anticipates expenditures necessary to city for the area to be. annexed <br /> <br />January 1, 1960. As the tax revenue from the area is not collectible until <br /> <br />late 1960, the city within the coming twelve months will not receive any <br /> <br />appreciable off-setting revenue for the expenses. Those expenditure items <br /> <br />which can be specifically identified are: <br /> <br />Commissioner of Revenue tax files and records <br />Additional refuse collection labor <br />Estimated for purchasing electrical system <br />Installation electric step-up transformers at Susan Lane <br />and Indian Trail and construct 3-phase line from there <br />to new area <br />Street lighting <br />Cost of boundary survey <br /> <br />Total <br /> <br />$ 600.00 <br />I, 315. 60 <br />12,100.00 <br /> <br />7,000.00 <br />3,125.00 <br />2,200.00 <br />$ 26, 340,.60 <br /> <br />The street lighting is a court decreed program that will be divided in equal <br /> <br />amounts over two budget years. Otherwise, only refuse collection labor is <br /> <br />a reoccurring item. However, after the first year, it is expected maintenance <br /> <br />and operational costs will develop to a more marked degree in other cate- <br /> <br />gories. Only very small funds are anticipated in this budget for street <br /> <br />maintenance in the hope the present condition of some of the older streets <br /> <br />will prompt the Highway Department to, this summer, make repairs which <br /> <br />will carryover for the first six months the area is a part of the city. <br /> <br />19. Provides $1,000 for sidewalk replacement work. <br /> <br />20. Provides $3,000 for replacement of a culvert for the stream under Finley <br /> <br />Street. Several area residents have strongly urged this, together with the <br /> <br />replacing the culvert under Gates Street, which would cost an additional <br /> <br />$1,200. Due to the limitation on funds, a choice had to be made and it was <br /> <br />- 16 - <br />
