Brown, Jr., Council accepted the resignation with most sincere regrets, <br /> <br />effective May 15, 1959, as requested: <br /> <br />Gentlemen: <br /> <br />I hereby respectfully submit my resignation from the City Council <br />of Mart i nsvi lIe , Virginia effective May 15, 1959. <br /> <br />Since the death of my father, numerous responsibilities have been <br />placed upon me in running my father's estate and his businesses. In <br />addition to this extra load of work, it has become increasingly <br />evident that as Martirnville grows, there will be a direct conflict <br />of interests between Lanier Farm, Inc. and the City of Martinsville and <br />Lanier Farm, Inc. and some of the citizens of the City. <br /> <br />For the above reasons, I respectfully request that you accept <br />this resignation at your TExt regular meeting on May J2, 1959. <br /> <br />Sincerely yours, <br /> <br />Rives S.
