<br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />HAY 5. 195~ <br /> <br />>- <br /> <br />under Se ction 5 of Chanter III of said License Tax Ordinance <br />shalJ. pay an annual li~ense tax of ten cents (10~) on each one <br />hundred dollars ($100.00) of their gross receipts from articles <br />manufactured or processed. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this ordinance and amendment shall <br />be in force on May 1, 1959. <br /> <br />After discussing the problem of trees interfering with public utility lines, <br /> <br />,-. <br /> <br />Council ordered that all trees which require trimming--and because of such trimming <br /> <br />become unsightly--to prevent interference with public utility lines shall be <br /> <br />removed, such order to be effective innnediately. <br /> <br />Council adknowledged with appreciation the response from various Virginia <br /> <br />legislators and highway officials to Council's resolution of April 14th concerning <br /> <br />allocation of funds for secondary highway maintenance and L~provement. <br /> <br />By a recorded vote and unanimous of those voting--Councilman Brown not voting-- <br /> <br />Council appropriated from its General Fund Emergency Account the sum of $298.32 <br /> <br /> <br />to pay the City's share of cost assessed ~ the tree-judge court in the Court's <br />I\- <br /> <br />order entered March 12, 1959 directing the annexing b,y the City of certain <br /> <br />territory located in the Druid Hills-Forest Park subdivisions. <br /> <br />Mr. Thomas S. Garrison and others appeared before Council and reqA ested per- <br /> <br />mission to construct at property owners' e:xpense and in accordance with City <br /> <br />specifications a sewer line off Windsor Lane to connect to a new line to serve the <br /> <br />new Druid Hills School on Indian Trail. Councilman Rives S. Brown, speaking as <br /> <br />a private citizen and property owner, not only expressed his opposition should <br /> <br />the Council grant the request but also indicated that he would refuse to grant <br /> <br />a right-of-way easement to the City for the new line to serve the Druid Hills <br /> <br />SchOOl, which right-of-way easement the City must obtain to construct the line. <br /> <br />- ,,-_._-----~- .. --"-'--'---"~-'--'--"'---'-,- - - ..- .', "-'--"---"-'-"'----'--"---'.'""-"'--' ,"--..-----.--...--.--.-.-...--- <br />
