<br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />APRIL 1h, 1959 <br /> <br />>_. <br /> <br />TO THE C Il'Y C OUNC IL <br />MARTINSVILIE, VIHGINIA <br /> <br />Gentlemen: <br /> <br />From the Bulletin of yesterday I learned that on Apt'il 11.+ action will <br />be taken by your bod;y on a rezoning appeal of the S. Arthur Hooker Sales <br />Company on the property located on the east side of the Central Grammer <br />School, extendinG from Brown Street to Mulberry Extension. <br /> <br />.- <br /> <br />This }roperty is diagonally opposite my property at 305 and 307 Brown <br />Street and I am vitally concerned. Unfortunately I have had for some <br />t:ilne plans to be in Europe, leavine here on April J3 and returning in <br />early Jure. <br /> <br />Because of my absence, I want to put into writing for your record my <br />position on this rezoning proposal. If N~. Hooker's property is re- <br />zoned into P-l district, this is my request for my property to be <br />rezoned into the same district, for professional usage. <br /> <br />I am opposed to a rezoning of any property in this :i.rrnnediate area to <br />B-1, and this inc ludes Mr. Hooker T s pr' operty as well as my own. I <br />would therefar'e appreciate it if you would withhold any action on a <br />B-1 rezoning until I am able to present in person my objections to <br />commercial usage of this proy:erty. <br /> <br />Yours very truly, <br /> <br />Loula H. Richardson presented the followir:g <br /> <br />petition requesting the closirg of that portion of Zee Street lying between or <br /> <br />bisecting Jefferson Circle, indicating a procedure to be follmved in accordance <br /> <br />with Section 15-766 of the Code of Virginia: <br /> <br />IN RE: VACATION OF PORTION OF ZEE STREET <br />TO THE COUN::IL OF THE CITY OF ViARTIN3VILIE <br /> <br />Your petitioner, Irving W. Ramsey, respectfully represents unto the <br />Council he is the mvner of certain property fronting upon Jefferson Street <br />in said City and that a street shown upon a certain map of said property, <br />bearing date May 9, 1938, prepared by Thomas S. Moore, C. L. S., recorded <br />in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of Henry County, Virginia in <br />Map Book 1 Page 200, said map is annexed to this petition marked Exhibit A <br />and made a part hereof, vihich street is knOlm and designated thereon as <br />Zee Street, a certain portion of which has been opened and a certain <br />portion which c o:nnects the east and west segments of Jefferson Street <br />remains unopened, that portion remaining unopened being the subject matter <br />of this petition. <br /> <br />--.--.-.---..-.....- ..-.---....---.-. <br /> <br />._.,._---".._-_.."._--'-"--'_.,.--_.._---,.~."._- <br />
