<br />4 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />DECEMBER 28, 1965 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Martinsville has a population of 19,000 plus, and is <br />legally entitled to a Corporation Court as are all cities in Virginia of the <br />first class; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the creation of s~ch a Court for the City of Martinsville would <br />alleviate to a great extent the crowded docket of the Seventh Judicial <br />Circuit; now, therefore, <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Mar'~.... .:wille, Virginia, in <br />regular meeting assembled this 28th day of December, 1965, that it is the <br />mature and considered opinion of this body that the need for an additional <br />judge for the Seventh Judicial Circuit is imperative and necessary; and, by <br />this resolution, this Council requests that our members of the Virginia <br />LegislatlITe take such steps as are necessary to bring a Corporation Court <br />into exii3tence for the City of Martinsville, to be known as The Corporation <br />Court for the City of Martinsville; and <br /> <br />BE IT FUHTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to The <br />Honorable Landon Wyatt, Danville, Virginia; The Honorable William F. Stone, <br />Martinsville, Virginia; The Honorable Robert Clark, Stuart, Virginia, and <br />The Honorable A. L. Philpott, Bassett, Virginia. <br /> <br />Council unanimously adopted the following resolution authorizing the executing and <br /> <br />filing (by the Acting City Manager) of an application for a Federal grant of <br /> <br />$80,500.00 toward the cost of constructing specified phases of the City's <br /> <br />sewerage system improvement program and, in addition, Council authorized the <br /> <br />executing (by the Acting City Manager) of an agreement under Title I, Civil <br /> <br />Rights Act of 1964: <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this 28th day of December, 1965, that <br />W. H. Yeaman, Acting City Manager of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, be and is hereby authorized the execute and file an <br />application entitled, "APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL GRANT FOR SEWAGE <br />TREATMENT WORKS UNDEH 33 U. s. C. 466 et seq.'1, said application <br />being made to the United States of America for Federal assistance <br />in the amount of $80,500.00 in the construction of the following <br />phased of the City's sewerage system improvement program, viz., <br />Jones Creek Interceptor from Point J-1 to Point J-7 and the South <br />Askin Outfall, both as indicated on exhibit attached to and made <br />a part of said application. <br /> <br />,.- <br />! <br /> <br />In acknowledging receipt of bids for the following construction projects, Council <br /> <br />accepted the lowest bid(s) submitted, i.e., that the Prillaman & Pace, Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia: <br />
