<br />477 <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 23, 1965 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />Council received, and also referred to the Planning Comrrlission for its consideration <br /> <br />and recommendation, a petition from North Martinsville Pentecostal Holiness Church <br /> <br />requesting the rezoning to l1C-3 Commerciall1 of its present church site as well as <br /> <br />adjoining lot (Lot No.8) the church expects to acquire from Mrs. Rebecca Blough, <br /> <br /> <br />near the intersection of Liberty Street and Lester's Lane. <br /> <br />Dr. C. J. Mathes, Director of the local Health Department, appeared before Council <br /> <br />and cited local conditions as pertain to local restaurants and food establishments, <br /> <br />stating that a number of permits issued to restaurants are likely not to be reissued <br /> <br />until health and sanitation requirements are met. Dr. Mathes, too, cited the need <br /> <br />for providing protective covering over the City's water storage reservoirs located <br /> <br />near Bethel Lane, to avoid the possibility of stored water being contaminated; <br /> <br />whereupon COlillCil directed that such protective coverings be installed. <br /> <br />Council unanimously approved, for execution by the City, a subdivision contract with <br /> <br />Adkins Construction Corporation (Mr. R. A. Henderson, Jr., and others), pertaining <br /> <br />to a development along an extension of Glade Street. <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />Council also unanimously approved, for execution by the City, of a power line <br /> <br />crossing ag~eement with the Carolina & Northwestern Railway Company, at a location <br /> <br />east of Sale Knitting Company's plant on Franklin street. <br /> <br />,-. <br /> <br />In acknowledging receipt of the following recent bids for sewer line and/or <br /> <br />culvert construction, as described hereinafter, and upon recommendation of the <br /> <br />City's con:3ulting engineers, Council tentatively accepted the lowest bids received <br /> <br />(Prillaman & Pace for "Division 2" and Laramore Construction Company for "Division 1"), <br /> <br />subject to Federal Grant requirements: <br /> <br />..~._---"",....,.._"._~..._....'~ <br />
