<br />42 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JULY 13. 1965 <br /> <br />/'- <br /> <br />Council also acknowledged receipt of a report of the Police Department's <br /> <br />activities for the month of June, 1965, as well as reports prepared by the <br /> <br />State Department of Welfare & Institutions (Division of Corrections) on the <br /> <br />City's Prison Farm and on the Municipal detention cells. <br /> <br />,...-' <br /> <br />Council acknowledged, too, a statement of receipts and expenses of the office <br /> <br />of the Clerk of Martinsville City Circuit Court for the calendar year 1964, <br /> <br />as prepared by the State Compensation Board. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst and City Attorney Cubine presented a draft of a "Smoke <br /> <br /> <br />Abatement" ordinance, which Council continued for study, noting that as <br /> <br /> <br />prepared this ordinance would be limited to smoke and soot emission from <br /> <br />industrial smoke-stacks. <br /> <br />Council n~ceived an invitation to attend an "open house" of the Civil Air <br /> <br />Patrol, at the City's Industrial Park, Sunday, July 18th. <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />In order to realign right-of-way and to correct an encroachment (by fractions <br /> <br />of inches) on City property by a building recently constructed by Brown"s, <br /> <br />Inc., at ~he corner of Clay and East Main Streets, Council authorized the <br /> <br />exchanging of property between Brown"s, Inc., and the City. <br /> <br />".- <br /> <br />Council acknowledged with gratitude a letter from Mr. Cephus F. Mitchell, of <br /> <br /> <br />835 Katherine Street, expressing appreciation for the street lights recently <br /> <br /> <br />installed by the City in the vicinity of his home. <br />
