Stone, counsel for petitioner, Mrs. Evelyn H. <br /> <br />Stone, Trustee, requested the rezoning for heavy-industry usage of a 78-acre <br /> <br />tract of land located on the south side of Rives Road Extension and along the <br /> <br />Norfolk & Western Hailway right-of-way. Council referred this petition to <br /> <br />the Planning Commission for its consideration and recommendation. <br /> <br />A petition submitted by the Piedmont Trust Bank, Trustee for Mrs. Purnell <br /> <br />Schottland, requesting the rezoning from IlR-9 Residential" to "P-1 Professional" <br /> <br />of the Schottland apartment property at 414-416 East Church Street, was also <br /> <br />referred to the Planning Commission for its consideration and recommendation. <br /> <br />By the following resolution, Council authorized City Manager Hirst to execute <br /> <br />on behalf of the City a document indicating acceptance of a Federal grant <br /> <br />offer (through the Department of Health, Education and Welfare) of $33,600.00 <br /> <br />to apply to the cost of constructing certain phases of Project No. WPC-Va-208 <br /> <br />of the City's sewerage system improvement program: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, has <br />been informed that a Federal grant of $33,600.00 is available <br />to the City of Martinsville toward the cost of constructing <br />certain extensions of intercepting sewers, identified as Project <br />No. WPC-Va-208, as a part of the City's overall intercepting <br />sewer system; and <br /> <br />~1EREAS, it is the desire of said City Council to accept said <br />Federal grant offered; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this twenty-sixth day of <br />January, 1965, that Julian F.
